Early Years and Education environments are pivotal in nurturing the wellbeing and development of children and young people, while also forging robust connections with families and the wider community. They also have a statutory responsibility to safeguard children from harm.

These settings foster a culture in which:

- Children are empowered to voice concerns regarding their own safety or that of another child.
- Adults are equipped to identify and address issues related to safeguarding and child protection.

Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Safeguarding Children Partnerships are working to ensure the voice of Education and Early Years is heard within their structures by;

  • creating this Pan Bedfordshire safeguarding website; a one stop shop for local safeguarding information and resources
  • having representation from Education and Early Years within strategic board meetings and subgroups
  • providing representatives to attend local Early Years and Education Forums and Networks
  • funding a suite of eLearning, free to those who work with children in Bedfordshire
  • offering a range of multi-agency learning and development opportunities via Safeguarding Bedfordshire
