ICON Week: (22nd - 26th September)

Babies cry; you can cope!

Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Safeguarding Children Partnerships are pleased to support ICON Week with NHS Bedfordshire Children & Young People's Services

Did you know, crying often increases around 2 weeks and peaks at 6–8 weeks?

This phase will pass, and please remember, you are not alone. It’s OK to press the pause button. Give yourself permission to step away, put baby down in their safe space and take five minutes to do nothing but stare out of the window or make a cup of tea or have some water. Look in the mirror and say, “I’ve got this, I can cope”
If you feel like it’s all getting too much, please reach out for support.
  • You can call Bedfordshire and Luton Health Hub and speak to a health visitor on 0300 555 0606. We are open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

  • You can also find resources and advice on our Bedfordshire and Luton Children’s Health website.

Bedfordshire and Luton 0-19 service (Health visitors) will be visiting different venues across Bedford and Luton during ICON week. It’s an opportunity for families to talk about how it feels to cope with a crying baby. Our staff will discuss strategies to use and signpost to relevant resources and where to get further help.
