Working Together to Safeguard Children - what it means to be supported by professionals

No matter where you live, there will always be people you can reach out for help.

Your parents and carers are there to keep you safe, help you do the things you enjoy and help you do well at all the things you choose to do. Lots of different people work together to help, support and protect you.

Examples of these people include;

  • teachers
  • social workers
  • police
  • health workers

All children have the right to be supported when things are difficult. You also have the right to be safe inside and outside of your home.

Sometimes people will need to make decisions quickly to make sure you are safe, and this "Working Together to Safeguard Children' guide explains how they do that, including explaining to you what is happening and why.

You have a right to know how the people who help you are working with each other and what you can expect when you ask for help.

You can read more about why and how professionals support children and young people here.
